Penguins and Popsicles

A variety of things knit over the last week. Pretty much all half assed and awesome.

Because I need a chart to get started on patterns, I put this one together for the scarf I am currently working on.

Mobile photo of my most recent purchases at LYS. I LOVE the new Serendipity needles with the rainbow and pot of gold on top. Also grabbed some knit picks for a lace pattern I’m starting.

This is my most recent finished object. A hat, done with colour stranding! This is my first time working a pattern with colour in such a detailed way. I read all the warnings about staying loose but I still think I may have failed because it’s much stiffer there than I need it to be. I’m going to try blocking the hat for better results. I think I’ll try this again soon, but with my own pattern, and with something even smaller. Perhaps a wrist band since The Popsicle keeps asking for one.

My local burger joint is trying to save my soul but the only thing my life was missing was a hamburger! “Mmmmm, sacrilicious.”

Made these last year on Christmas morning. I obviously did some scrambled and some not. Amazingly good. The recipe is from Good Ole Martha

Adorable Serendipity needles, along with some of the yarn from the local yarn shop, Wiregrass Yarn Shop.

This is the heart pattern for the previous post. I knit the pattern from top to bottom while working a hat from bottom to crown. 80 stitch cast on on size 8 circs with a stitch marker placed every 16 stitches once I get to where I want to start the hearts - that way I remember to knit 3 after each marker and then do the 13 in the pattern. You can see how I mark off every row I finish and at the bottom mark off every decrease row. I’m delicate and get lost easily. :p
Basically it’s one inch of 1x1 ribbing in the round, up to 5 inches of pure knitting stockinette - sticking the heart pattern somewhere in the middle of it - then decreasing via K8 K2tog  - repeating until end of row then knit next row, K7 K2tog - repeating until end of row then knit another row and so on (switching to dpns when necessary) until you only have 8 stiches left to pull your thread through into the crown of the hat.
Very quick knit up.

Knit this up yesterday. There are 5 hearts around the hat but I just put an icord through one of them so it would pop. Miss Popsicle is modeling.
